LISA has returned with her latest single “Rockstar,” accompanied by a music video that perfectly matches the song’s explosive title.
The talented rapper, singer, and dancer from BLACKPINK traveled to her home country of Thailand to film the dance-heavy video, taking over the vibrant streets of Bangkok for the shoot. In the chorus, LISA confidently raps, “Gold teeth sitting on the dash, she a rockstar/ Make your favorite singer wanna rap, baby, la la/ ‘Lisa, can you teach me Japanese?’ I said, ‘Hai hai’/ That’s my life life, baby I’m a rockstar.”
“Rockstar” marks the first release under the new collaboration between RCA Records and LISA’s management company, LLOUD Co., which she established earlier this year.
The song, co-written by LISA alongside Brittany Amaradio, James Essien, Lucy Healey, Ryan Tedder, and Sam Homaee, was produced by Tedder and Homaee. It was initially teased on TikTok when LISA joined the platform and set a Guinness World Record by gaining 1 million followers in just over two hours. Last week, she officially announced the release details for “Rockstar.”
In September 2021, LISA made her solo debut with the two-track single album Lalisa, released through YG Entertainment and Interscope Records. The album featured the title track “Lalisa” and “Money.” LISA made history when “Lalisa” won the Best K-pop category at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2022, becoming the first K-pop solo artist to receive awards at both prestigious shows. Two years prior, LISA’s group BLACKPINK became the first all-female K-pop group to win a VMA.
